Log in to the Network Registrar Web-based user interface (Web UI) either by a regular browser login or a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) secured login. For a regular browser login, the page indicates "Page is not secure." If the login is SSL-secured, the Login page indicates "Page is SSL Secure." To set up an SSL-secured login, see the Network Registrar Installation Guide.

Log in with your account name and password. The account name is not case-sensitive, but the password is case-sensitive. Depending on how your browser was set up, you might be able to abbreviate the account name and select it from the drop-down list. If the password is stored from a previous login, it might be entered automatically. (To change your password, see the Changing Your Login Password topic.)

• To log in, enter the account name and password, then click Login. If this is your first login, you must enter your software license on the Add Product License page. After you enter the license, the Cisco Network Registrar Main Menu page appears with a menu of administrative tasks.

• To cancel the login, click Cancel.

If you bookmark the path/login.jsp, and if your session is still valid, the next time you open the page, you can click Reuse current session to return to your login session. This option is not available if your login is not valid, your session timed out in the Web server, your connection was broken, or you removed the cookie in the browser.

If this is your first time logging in after installing Network Registrar, you must enter a software license. This function is available to all users. Your license key is printed on the installation CD. Enter this key exactly as given in the License Key field of the Add Product License page.

Click Add License to add the license key, or Cancel to cancel. When you add the correct key, the Main Menu page appears immediately.

Observe the following cautions in operating in, and navigating through, Web UI pages:

The Main Menu page indicates functions available to the logged-in user, based on the permissions set up for the user. The regional and local cluster pages have separate features in the list on the page and on the Primary and Secondary Navigation bars at the top of the page, depending on your permissions. (Click here for a table of the optimum features available to regional and local cluster users.)

CAUTION: Do not use the Back button of the browser. Use the Primary or Secondary Navigation bar, or the Cancel button to return to the previous page. Using the Back button can cause erratic failures.

These are the expandable areas of this page (click the plus sign [+] to expand the area):

• Show Roles for User -- Shows the administrative roles available to the user and the functions available for, or constraints imposed on, each role. Note that the privileges for any administrator assigned as a superuser override any displayed roles for the administrator.

• Session Attribute Visibility Setting -- Sets how you would like the object attributes displayed on the Web UI pages. There are two selections, Normal and Expert:
  • Normal -- Appropriate under most conditions and the default setting.

  • Expert -- Use this under diagnostic conditions only. This setting exposes a set of attributes that are relevant for fine tuning the configuration (they do not appear under Normal mode). In most cases, you would accept the default values for these reserved attributes and not change them without guidance from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC). If you select Expert, then click Set Session Attribute Visibility, a Warning icon () will appear next to each reserved attribute when you open the configuration pages.

• Web UI Debug Settings -- Sets debugging for the Web UI. CAUTION: Do not change these settings unless a Cisco TAC representative advises that you do so.

• Server Debug Settings -- Sets debugging for the DHCP, DNS, TFTP, and CCM servers. CAUTION: Do not change these settings unless a Cisco TAC representative advises that you do so.

• Change Password -- Change your Web UI login password (see the Changing Your Login Password topic).

You can change your Web UI login password in the expandable Change Password area at the bottom of the Main Menu page.

NOTE: Changing your password does so on the local cluster only. Password changes are not automatically communicated between clusters. You must push or pull administrators by way of the regional cluster, and redistribute the password changes to the local clusters in that way. You must have the regional administrator permissions with the proper subroles to propagate the password changes.

To change the password, enter the old password, then enter the new one, with an additional confirmation entry. Finish by clicking Change Password.

The following features are available to the admin user in the regional and local clusters. Click the R or L in the last column to open the help topic for the initial page for the feature.

		Initiates a single sign-on from the regional cluster to the local cluster.
		Returns to the regional cluster Web UI. (Found at the top right corner of local cluster Web UI pages.)
		Refreshes the page or reloads the identified server.
		Deletes the item next to the icon.
		Provides a list/add page based on the column description for the item in the list.
		Resynchronizes the DHCP failover pair or zone distribution.
		Gets the replica data for the regional cluster from the local cluster.
		Polls subnet utilization or lease history data from the local cluster.
		Provides a report or statistics for the item.
		Shows the related DHCP server data.
		Gets router interface configuration (RIC) interface details.
		Provides a log file for the item.
		Saves the report to a file.
		Starts the identified server.
		Stops the identified server.
		Goes to the first page in the list.
		Backs up one page in the list.
		Moves forward one page in the list.
		Goes to the last page in the list.
		Searches for the item in the list.
		This configuration attribute should not be changed, unless you are instructed to do so by the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to address a specific network issue.

Many pages include drop-down lists of predefined items from which to select. On some pages, you can select only one item. On others, you can select one or more items.

Your system is usually set up to select single and multiple items using your mouse button together with keyboard keys. For example, you might be able to select single items with a left mouse button click, multiple items by clicking each one separately while pressing the Ctrl key, and contiguous multiple items by stepping through them while pressing the Shift key.

On many of the pages that include lists of items, you can search for item names, and you can change the number of lines displayed on the page.

• To search for an item -- Look for the Search icon (). In the field next to it, enter a search string, then press Return or click the icon.

• To change the page size -- In the field next to the Change Page Size button, enter a number (1 through 100), then press Return or click the button. You can then navigate through the list using the arrow buttons.
